Your career at Fortumo will start as a Senior Software Engineer. In this role, you’ll be focusing on maintaining and expanding our mobile operator and digital merchant integrations portfolio consisting of 120 billing partners and mobile operators across 80+ countries. You will have the opportunity and the authority to make design decisions on microservices serving millions of end users each day.


What is the purpose and content of this role?

In this role, your main goal is to write good code in any of Fortumo's engineering teams and bringing the ideas of stakeholders to life by creating new software and maintaining the existing codebase. You will be a true role model with a strong grasp on good coding practices and techniques (CI/CD/TDD etc) and by coaching junior team members and sharing knowledge across the engineering organization. You will also work closely together with other teams in Fortumo to deliver new markets, products, compliance, and technical features to your clients that have an impact on their revenue and market positioning.


Skills and requirements, we expect from you to:

  • Fantastic Java user, at least 8+ years of experience in Java and a strong grasp on good coding practices and techniques
  • Owner of all aspects of our software architecture, quality, and user experience as you will write and review a *LOT* of code and maintain services in production using a modern toolset
  • Ruby - yes, in some cases you need to be familiar with that language and frameworks, but we primarily write in Java
  • Teaching, coaching and mentoring our team junior members and other engineers to improve code performance (e.g. algorithm redesign, etc.)
  • Understanding of testing, continuous integration and deployment practices
  • Mastery of working with databases (Postgres) and "the cloud" (AWS)
  • Open-minded, hands-on, passionate, creative and you love to get things done - then it is something you must try
